Freddie hosting a dinner party for his friends, 1977.
Freddie and his girlfriend at the time, Mary Austin, throwing a dinner party for friends at their London flat, 1977.
As everyone knows, the location of Freddie’s remains have been kept a secret by Mary Austin since the day he died in 1991. This week a mysterious plaque, featuring Freddie’s birth name, date of birth and death and a french message (which translates to: To Always be Close to You with All My Love) was found by fans at Kensal Rise Cemetery. It is assumed that the message, signed M, is from Mary Austin, his lifelong friend and former lover, who Freddie left in charge of scattering his remains. The staff at the cemetery claims not to know that this plaque existed.
Update: It seems that the plaque has now since been removed from the cemetery. Which gives reason to believe that Freddie’s remains are possibly scattered in the cemetery’s Scattering Garden.
